Vatsalya was setup by a group of medical professionals in 1995 as recourse centre on health under society legislation Act. Vatsalya strives to improve health and social development indicators in Uttar Pradesh with a specific focus on the upliftment of women and children. It achieves this through research, advocacy, program implementation, training stakeholders, and capacity building of Community Based Organizations (CBOs). Initially focused on preventing sex-selective abortion, it has broadened its focus to include other areas such as sanitation, nutrition, child-rights protection, child survival, and implementing & monitoring government schemes.
